Software Sales Representative (North America)

About Kilgray

Kilgray is a privately held software company that celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014. Kilgray is still run by its founders, and since its start it has matured from the proverbial garage shop to Hungary’s second fastest growing technology company, according to the Deloitte Technology Fast award.
Kilgray is the creator of memoQ, a computer-assisted human translation tool used by over fifteen thousand translators and hundreds of translation companies and enterprises, including Siemens, Sega, Infor and Hasbro. Tesco’s entire content and World of Warcraft are both translated using memoQ.
We are headquartered in Gyula, Hungary, with offices in Budapest and in Germany, and people in Portugal, Poland, France, Canada, the UK and the US. We have a diverse team of over 70 people, and we use English as the main language to communicate.

The ideal candidate

Kilgray is not a risk-averse organization. We value initiative and appreciate the drive to try, fail, learn from mistakes, and try again. In an organization like ours, individuals make a perceivable impact.
We're currently seeking a
Software Sales Representative to join our growing Sales team. As a Software Sales Representative you will be the one who brings new users to the memoQ world. We have amazing tools but not everyone knows that yet and others need convincing. You’ll need to work together with Pre-Sales to understand what solutions clients will need and make sure we demonstrate that to them. Your prospects will range from small Language Service Providers (LSPs) with a couple employees to large multinationals with thousands, so having an open mind for diversity and differentiated sales strategies is good asset to bring with yourself.

If you know the language industry well or have sold similar solutions to memoQ, great! This is not, however, a must, but having at least some experience in sales is essential.

Last but not least: you need to be able to work in a team. You’ve heard this before, we know, but we can only make a sale if you and the rest of the team really work together! You’ll be the one responsible for deals at the end of the day, but their input is essential to make things happen.

In a more traditional form the Sales task is to:
  • Identify new prospects, leads
  • Identify new opportunities
  • Build long term relationships with strategic clients
  • Present products, solutions
  • Prepare quotations, negotiate deals
  • Attend conferences, trade shows, visit clients

  • Provide feedback to development
  • Support marketing campaigns
  • Maintain CRM records
  • Understand customers’ translation and localization workflows
  • Counsel existing and prospective customers on translation and localization workflows

What do we expect?

  • Excellent personal skills
  • Sales experience (the more, the better, but we are looking for skill and potential primarily)
  • Ability to abstract and convert clients’ needs into solutions
  • Good learning and analytical skills (even Sales has to understand the logic of our software)
  • Fluent English communication and writing skills
  • A basic understanding of memoQ (from our public materials available on
Experience with localization, translation is a plus but not needed

  • Location:
We think working together in the same office is both fun and efficient, although we do not have a water cooler as such at the moment. However, since we have yet to open our office in North America we are fairly flexible about your location with a slight preference for Montreal, Canada (our Sales Director for the Americas is based there).
  • Compensation:
Competitive salary, Health Insurance contribution and 401k negotiable
